Col.Dr.Alok.C.Khanna

Dr. Alok Khanna is an Armed Forces Medical College alumnus with 27 years of Pediatrics experience in the Indian Army. Post retirement he has worked on key projects with the United Nations, International Red Cross and Red Crescent in ASEAN delivering successful training mitigating risks associated with disaster management, health care and drug abuse.

He has been associated in developing health plans that lay emphasis on parental child care and community health. He has worked with communities in local capacity building and finding innovative solutions, partnering with governments, NGOs and civil society counterparts and multi-sector interdisciplinary teams.

He has organized health management and medical-check up camps for the rural sector, as well as relief for flood, landslide, fire victims and displaced persons as and where required. He has been the Team Leader for the National Disaster Response Team in India, and has conducted rapid assessment during floods, earthquake etc. on behalf of the Indian Red Cross Society and International Federation Red Cross. He has tremendous experience in social and community health care organizing health camps, awareness programs and capacity building of communities. His expertise lies in his ability to manage resources effectively, as well as handle complex situations, people and their expectations.

He has conceptualized and managed projects of varying magnitude, which required working across geographies, organizations, and cultures as well as coordinating with bilateral and international agencies.

Col.Dr.Harish Bhatia

Vice President

Dr. (Col.) Harish Bhatia is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College Pune from where he graduated in 1970 and did his MD Radiology in 1977.

He served the Army Medical Corp for 23 years and during that period he spent two years in London for training in MRI and CT scanning at the prestigious Northwick Park Hospital and National Neurology Institute.

He has been a postgraduate teacher of Radiology since 1983 in Pune University, Delhi University and HIMS, Dehradun.

Since 1994 he is practicing in Dehradun and has done pioneering work in the field of Radiology. He is credited with setting up the First ever CT scan in Garhwal in 1994, first MRI Centre in Uttarakhand in 2001 and first 128 slice CT Scan with CT Coronary Angiography in Uttarakhand in 2013.

He is presently the Director of Doon MRI & Diagnostics, a comprehensive Radiology Centre equipped with the latest high end equipment in all modalities.

Lt.Col.Christopher Woodward

He is an Indian Army veteran with a passion for Tourism, Adventure Sports, Camping, Trekking and Rafting. Mr.Woodward has spent many years working with educational institutions in India and internationally. He has been involved with pioneering work in experiential outdoor learning for young students in Uttarakhand. He has a good sense of the terrain and culture of the state. During his career Mr.Woodward also built a Tourism startup. He was instrumental in formulating and organizing adventure packages in the Himalayas.

Col.Dr.Rohit Durga

With over 35 years medical expertise Dr. Rohit Durga is a prolific retired army medical officer who served in the Indian Army between 1984-2009. He was an excellent recruiting officer and medical officer to the National Defense Academy Wing in addition to ASC School (Cat.A.Est). Col. Durga has been trained in Health and Hospital Management giving him expertise in coordinating with hospitals in India. He currently has his own private practice and often consults at hospitals and medical institutes. Col. Durga is a respected member of the SAI institute Paramedical Sciences faculty. He loves to travel, play golf and prides himself of his gardening skills.

Col.Dr.Gopal Agarwal

Col. Gopal Agarwal did his medical training from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and joined the Indian Army. His speciality is ophthalmology.

He has conducted innumerable Eye Camps in India and Nepal whilst in the army. Dr Gopal Agarwal worked as a consultant ophthalmologist in Libya, Maldives and Seychelles for many years. He is now a consultant ophthalmologist in Dehradun. Gopal Agarwal is very passionate about his work and has organised many eye camps in Dehradun and the surrounding areas. He is vey interested in providing his expertise to those that need it. He taes a keen interest in alternative medicine.

Dr.Anu Dheer

Dr Annu Dhir is a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician practising in Dehradun for the last 35 years and is an alumni of the Rewa Medical college. She has also worked at Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi and the KEM hospital at Pune. She is a committed social worker and has worked for 12 years at the Air Force Welfare Centres in different stations, where her husband was posted. Dr.Dhir has been associated with NGOs working in Uttarakhand and her commitment has taken her to the remote corners of of the state. She has trained government doctors and nurses in Family Planning and CuT insertions. Dr.Dhir is a member of the FOGSI (Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of India). She has been secretary of the Dehradun Chapter (2006-2008) as well as the President of FOGSI in 2010. She is an active member of the IMA Dehradun and has been it’s Joint Secretary in 2018

Col.Dr.V.P.Singh

M.B.B.S, DLO, M.D (ENT)

After his MBBS he went onto complete his DLO. Col.V.P.Singhs persistence to expand his knowledge did not stop there. He went onto specialize and obtained his masters in ENT. He has led numerous assignments nationwide throughout his career. Notably were his achievements in Shillong, Mhow and Lucknow ENT centers. He has also made a tremendous contribution to the AFMC and AHR&r. He was responsible for inducting the first co2 laser in the state and successfully started co2 laser surgery in Uttarakhand. Subsequently he pioneered and started cochlear implant in Dehradun. He has given hearing to many children. He has several papers to his credit. He is now a consultant with Max Hospital in Dehradun.

Col.Dr.Manjul Khanna

Dr Manjul Khanna did her medical training from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and has served as a medical officer in the Indian Army for 22 years and then with the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for 13 years, both in India and the East Asia Pacific. As Advisor Drug Demand Reduction, she has provided technical expertise and advice to Regional Governments in addressing drug dependence for East Asia and the Pacific. She was based in Bangkok, Thailand.

She believes that gender equality and equity are important aspects to be taken into account when programming for women. Her key objective is to establish training expertise within communities on gender, vulnerabilities of women, providing skills, and training for comprehensive care and support for women by building a gendered perspective among young people with regard to the law and women’s rights, gender violence, sexuality, and relationships.

Mrs.Seema Durga

Seema has been working in the education field and has 20 years of teaching experience. She is presently the principal of Doon Blossoms School in Dehradun. She is a post graduate in psychology. Her main area of interest is Child Psychology and women empowerment. She is keen to help and educate under privileged women to live a better and healthy life by providing them skills and training.

Mrs.Rita Singh

Mrs. Rita Singh has been working with a boarding school for the past 15 years in the department of English. She finished her early education from Loreto Convent, Delhi. Having received her B.A. from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi, M.A. from Delhi School of Economics and B. Ed. from Dehradun, she has an overall experience of 20 years. Rita has been a social worker throughout her career contributing to various organisations and patient welfare. Apart from her career, Rita enjoys music and is fond of singing. Her interests include debates, elocution and she takes a keen interest in theater. She is also an ardent environmentalist. Rita resides with her family in Dehradun. In her free time, she enjoys socializing, exploring the city for different cuisines and takes an interest in reading philosophy. She truly believes in a quote by Gandhi, ‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others’

Mrs.Christine Woodward

She has over 30 years of teaching-learning experience both in India and abroad. Prior to her appointment at Kasiga School, Dehradun as the Academic Coordinator in October 2011, she was the CIE & IB Diploma Coordinator at a leading IB World School in Bali (Indonesia). In addition, she taught Environmental Management. A keen athlete (800 & 1500 meters), she participated in the Himachal Pradesh State Athletic meets while at St Bede’s, Shimla.

Understanding, patience and a passion are some of the attributes that she brings to her work. She has always celebrated the achievements of her students and the community she lives in. Always there to assist and extend a helping hand, this sense of community and giving, has been central to her life. Her objective of joining the organisation is to continue to offer empathy, compassion and a sense of self help to all the participants.

Mrs Sudha Bhatia born & brought up in Dehra Dun did her schooling from Convent of Jesus & Mary & went on to do BA ( Hons in Psychology) from MKP College . Hers was a family of Badminton champions with her brothers playing at National & International levels . She herself won the District Badminton Championship thrice & even represented the North Zone & brought laurels to Dehra Dun . She is actively engaged in managing the Administrative work in the family owned Doon MRI & Diagnostics for the past two decades . The family & friends marvel her for the culinary skills she possesses. Extrovert by nature she is always willing to reach out to her friends & society in organizing events & occasions . She has been participating in the activities of “ HIMAID Society “ since its inception.

Mrs.Arti Agarwal

Mrs. Arti Agarwal has been a teacher of English for over 25 years at some of the most reputed public schools of the country. During the course of this experience, she has been counseling students to inculcate the best values and develop into responsible citizens who are inclined to serve the community that has made their life comfortable.
She has been guiding and encouraging people around her to develop their own skills and do food preservation to become entrepreneurs. Being a keen environmentalist she practices organic gardening .
Arti feels greatly disturbed by the migration from villages and wants to revive the villages by helping them augment their income with cooperative cottage industries of craft and food preservation, while tackling environmental challenges. She is keenly interested in art & craft, gardening and cooking.

Col.Dr.Kapil Suri

Col.Dr.Kapil Suri has worked across functions at a Union Ministry level - North and South Block, New Delhi. He has been actively involved in Human resource management and served as budget controller. He was appointed as the Central Public Information Officer at the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services. Dr.Kapil Suri was Awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation for Distinguished Services & Innovation of Mobile Field Surgical Center. Col.Suri’s work was subsequently published in the Combat Medic Journal. Col.Suri was instrumental in streamlining Emergency Medical Assistance for Disaster Aid.

Mrs.Pratibha Suri

Pratibha was born in Palampur but stayed most of her time with her parents in Dehradun where she did her schooling and degree. In her early years, she taught in a senior school for 3 years and held evening classes for the poor kids at home. After marriage, as she moved across the country, she observed the sufferings of the underprivileged. So instead of building up her career she decided to voluntarily work at different platforms to address the underappreciated. Blessed with excellent communication and organizational skills, she embarked upon shouldering the dual responsibility of supporting the army life and a home maker. She has been an active member of AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association) from the Unit level at the periphery to the Apex level, where she was instrumental in imparting vocational training and skill development for the army women folk. During her stay at various stations she interacted at various platforms to share with them the nuances of housekeeping, family nutrition, child psychology and their education.
